Flora Jean Wilkes Hancock, 73, of Statesville, joyfully received her angel wings Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Born June 25, 1951, in Davie County to the late Benjamin Elliot Wilkes and Mary Janie Mack, Flora was a beacon of kindness and humor. Her career as an LPN showcased her nurturing and healing spirit. Known for her quick wit and love for "piddling" with just about anything, she brought laughter and warmth to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elvania Crews; and her grandchildren, SaCario Hancock and Maliah Joseph.

Flora's legacy lives on through her husband, Bruce Edward Hancock; her daughters, Gwen Blackwell, Joy Kelly (Clarence), Jeanette Hancock (Reginald), Serena Hancock, and Precious Hancock; and her siblings, Shirley Morrison and Elliot Wilkes (Margaret); and a host of grandchildren.

A celebration of Flora's vibrant life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 18, at Lambert Funeral Chapel, Mocksville.

Flora's generous spirit and zest for life will be fondly remembered and cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
