On March 28, 2016, in the early morning hours, Evelyn G. Cain was called home to be with her heavenly Father. Evelyn was born in Davie County, NC on April 29, 1939, to the late Willie Malone and John Ijames. Evelyn attended school in Mocksville, NC. Upon completion, she moved to Jamaica, NY. She found employment at Nuclear Dry Cleaners and then CVS Pharmacy until she retired. After retirement Evelyn chose to return back to North Carolina to be closer to her family and friends. She was a devoted member of Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church, and served as an elder under the leadership of Pastor Fred Terry. Evelyn loved to read and cook; she spent many summers camping and traveling, and enjoyed hosting family and friends. In her younger days, she was part of a women's organization called Nartissus that not only hosted functions, but was recognized throughout the state of New York. She was a dedicated friend, and always put family first. A great woman indeed who sacrificed her gain to make sure that others were able to. She leaves a loving memory that will be cherished forever. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Steven Cain, and her daughter-in-law, Carol Abraham Cain. She is survived by two sons, Michael and Ernest Lee; two daughters-in-law, Juanice and Tawana; one sister, Mary Alfrieda; one brother-in-law, Sohrab; one nephew, Darrell; one aunt, Ellen Hudson; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
