Eva Holman Turner, age 88, of Statesville, NC, passed away (peacefully) early Monday morning, February 02, 2015 at Glenn Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC, after an extended period of declining health. She was born March 09, 1926 in Davie County, daughter of the late Joshua Cornelius Holman and Ruby Gaither, and was one of eight children born to this union. Eva was married to the late Joe Erwin Turner (November 16, 1946-August 15, 1971). She was a longtime member in good standing of Piney Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Harmony, NC. She attended Davie County public schools and was last employed by Clarke and Schewebel Manufacturers where she was a devoted employee for over 30 years. In addition to her parents and husband, Eva was preceded in death by three sisters, Sadie Irene Jones, Sallie Naomi Preston, and Beatrice S. Tillman, and one brother, Neely F. Holman. She is survived by three sisters: Edmonia Holman Gaither Hollis of Mocksville NC, Nellie Ruth Holman Ramsue of Salisbury NC, and Mary Rodwell Holman of Jamaica NY; three nieces and three nephews whom she and her late husband reared as their own, Connie Parker (Stanley) of Stony Point NC, Gladys Feimster (Charles) of Statesville NC, Pauline Jones (Alfred) of Statesville, Charles F. Turner (Shelby) of Upper Marlboro MD, James Robert Houpe (Juanita) of Statesville, and John Paul Houpe (Frances) of Statesville; one sister-in-law, Lucy Holman of Statesville; special friends, Martha Johnson, and Robert 'Bob' and Harriet Foster; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
