Woodleaf Elder Leo Nathaniel Rucker, 83, died Sept. 15 in Magnolia Gardens Hospice Home in Spencer, NC. He was born in Davie County, son of the late Bishop and Mamie Wansley Rucker. He attended Davie County Schools and lived most of his life in Baltimore, MD, where he was a truck driver. He was married to Eddie Gray Rucker and when they returned to this area and they lived in Woodleaf. He was a member of Erwin Temple CME Church and as a pastime he enjoyed visiting local churches and fishing. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He was preceded in death by one brother, Other Rucker. Leo is survived by his wife, Eddie Rucker of Magnolia Gardens Nursing Home, five brothers, James (Ruby) Rucker, Billy Rucker, Howard Rucker, Carlton (Pauline) Rucker all of Winston-Salem, and Herman Rucker of Hephzivah, GA; three sisters, Bernice R. Stapler, Clara M. Tomlin, and Christine (James) Summers all of Winston-Salem; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service on Friday, Sept. 20 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Graham Funeral Home. Rev. Ervin Hannah, Jr., will officiate and burial will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens in Salisbury with military rites.
