Edward "Ed" Julius
Davis
Sep 1, 1948 — Jul 26, 2025
Edward "Ed" Julius Davis, 78, of Woodleaf, died Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Meadowbrook Health & Rehabilitation in Salisbury.
He was born September 1, 1948, in Charleston, SC, to the late Corbett Dillard and Dorothy Belle Herron Davis.
After receiving a Bachelor's of Science and then Master's Degree in Chemistry from Tulane University in New Orleans, Ed began a career in textiles that lasted more than four decades and carried him to five continents. Pioneering developments in both dyeing and finishing and stone washing processes, he held various positions from plant manager to head of product development.
An avid hunter, fisherman and general outdoorsman, Ed loved opening day of dove season, sitting in a tree stand, or casting a line in a freshwater lake or Outer Banks surf and he excelled in all of them. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and keeping an immaculate yard.
Despite the accolades he earned professionally and his renowned prowess as a sportsman nothing brought him more pride than his family. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were spoiled with countless ice cream runs, never ending rides on the pontoon boat, and over the top Christmas decorations and 4th of July fireworks displays. And by his side for 49 years was the love of his life and princess Beth. Their love continues to be the stuff of legend amongst their family and friends and an inspiration to their children.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Davis; brothers, Richard Davis (Bonnie), Mark Davis (Joy), Tim Davis (Denise) and Chris Davis; sons, Douglas Foster, Michael Foster (Donna), and Brian Foster (Heather); numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The family would especially like to thank the fine staffs at Novant Rowan Medical Center, Liberty Hospice, and Meadowbrook Health and Rehabilitation.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, at Lambert Funeral Chapel, Mocksville with Rev. Shelby Harbour officiating. The family invites friends to visit with them at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Alzheimer's Association, Western NC Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Ste. 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
