Edward Eugene
Chapman
Jul 12, 1937 — May 16, 2024
Mr. Edward Eugene Chapman, 86, of Mocksville, died Thursday, May 16, 2024, at his home.
He was born July 12, 1937, in Elmira Heights, NY, to the late Orville Sherman and Pauline Esther Chamberlain Chapman. Mr. Chapman was a Christian who loved to tell others about Jesus and share about salvation. After moving to North Carolina in 1967, he was active in church as a Sunday school teacher, Men's Group President, Deacon, and a member of Builders for Christ Mission group. He was educated in Odessa, NY until the 7th grade. Having a natural God given gift as a dairy cow herdsman, he preferred being on the farm working than being in school. Starting when he was 17 years old, he milked cows on several farms over the years and was able to increase several herd's milk production up to the high standard of the DHIA. Mr. Chapman was employed by Piedmont Agri-Systems, in Cleveland, NC, where he sold dairy equipment and farm supplies. He then started his own business in Eastern North Carolina called Midstate Dairy Supply. In 1982, he started Custom Pumping and Spreading where he would pump dairy lagoons and spread on local farm fields as fertilizer. His grandchildren have many great memories working the large equipment on the farms with him. In 2001, he retired, however, he kept busy by going on big game hunts and loading his own ammunition. He was a happy family man and enjoyed teaching his grandkids about Jesus, gun safety and skills, and hunting. Mr. Chapman loved his family and spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gordon, Bernard, and James; and a grandson, Timothy Edward Chapman.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ferne Chapman of the home; three sons, Timothy J. Chapman (Sherri) of Spring, TX, Thomas G. Chapman of Cleveland, NC, and Tracey A. Chapman (Winnie) of Broken Arrow, OK; two daughters, Tamora L. Williams (Lorne) of Mebane, and Tonya S. Chapman of the home; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
