Obituary

Deborah Gail James was born in Rowan County to Lizzie Martin Mayfield and the late John M. Mayfield. She graduated from Davie High School and worked at Wonder Knit and Blackwelder Textile Company. She grew up in Erwin Temple CME Church, and for the past three years she was a member of Chosen Church of Faith. She was a member of the choir, Usher Board, and was also a Missionary. Her hobbies included hand crafts, putting together puzzles, and working in her flower garden. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Alvin Mayfield. On March 1, 2011, she died at her home after an extended illness. She is survived by one son, Perry M. James of Cooleemee; one daughter, Cindy Rice of Cooleemee; her mother, Lizzie Mayfield of Cooleemee; three brothers, John L. (Lucille) Mayfield and Wilton (Kimberly) Mayfield both of Mocksville, and Felton (Judy) Mayfield of Cooleemee; four sisters, Doris M. Gray of Woodleaf, Pastor Ruby Howell and Lexeris Cline both of Cooleemee, and Olympia (Milton) Neely of Salisbury; one grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends.
