David Andrew Hunt, 77, of Mocksville, died Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

He was born June 29, 1948, in Davidson County, to the late Charlie Aarmon and Adelaide Johnston Hunt.

David devoted his life to education, pursuing his lifelong passion for teaching and mentoring others. He earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Appalachian State University. Over the course of a remarkable 40-year career, he taught and coached students primarily in Davie and Rowan Counties, leaving a lasting impact on the communities he served.

In his leisure time, David enjoyed watching sports—especially cheering on Duke Blue Devils basketball—playing cards with friends, golfing, and trying new recipes. Everyone who knew him appreciated his kindness, warm spirit, and wonderful sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Genie, Robert "Bobby", and James "Jimmy."

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Jo Steele Hunt; his children, David Andrew "Andy" Hunt, Jr. (Sandra), and Elizabeth Ann "Beth" Hunt (Matthew Fink); grandchildren, Thomas Andrew Hunt, and Sarah Grace Hunt; brothers, Charles Hunt (Virginia), Paul Hunt (Chris); and several nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at a later date.
