Darrell Eugene
Edwards
Apr 27, 1949 — Jan 24, 2024
- Mr. Darrell Eugene Edwards, 74, of Southport died Wednesday, January 24, 2024, SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, in Bolivia.
He was born April 27, 1949, in Iredell County, to the late Robert Wade and Martha Lena Efird Edwards. Darrell was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Darrell graduated from Davie County High School in 1967, and attended Ringling School of Arts in Sarasota, Florida before being drafted in 1967. He was an upholsterer, an artist, and all-around people person. Rolling down the waterfront, fishing and eating ice cream or chocolate covered cherries with his family was his greatest pleasure.
He was a funny, loving, and doting father and grandfather. His many grandchildren loved to sit on Paw-Paws lap and for him to roll them around the house. His infectious laughter and jokes are one of the many things that will be missed.
Darrell is survived by his five children, Anthony Roberts Edwards, Melanie Edwards Andrews, Christopher Matthew Edwards, Heather Ruth Edwards, and Sarah Edwards Frink; siblings, Don Edwards and Susan Edwards Stowers; 12 grandchildren, Lilly Miller, Alexis Beers, Blake Edwards, Noah Edwards, Logan Edwards, Ives Frink, Araya Andrews, Jayda Miller, Der'eona Frink, Izaiah Frink, Khole Miller, and Annalena Andrews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 3, at New Union Church Cemetery, with military graveside rites. The family invites friends to visit with them following the service.
