Conard Smoot was born on October 13, 1923 in Davie County to the late Walter and Bertha Cain Smoot. He graduated from Davie County Training School, and worked at JP Green Milling Company for over seventy years. He did a lot of odd jobs working with his hands, and always found time to help his neighbors. He was a faithful member of Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church for as long as his health permitted. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Willie Flint Smoot; one son, Terry Flint Smoot; one sister, Clara Crawford; and one brother, Walter Smoot, Jr. On Wednesday, June 14, 2017, he took flight to his heavenly home at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Conard leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Lindsey Conard Smoot; two daughters, Linda Faye (Kenneth) Brown, and Rita Angela Smoot; two grandchildren, Lynisha Smoot and Adonis Smoot; cousins, Frances Ferrel and Everlena Garrett; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
