Obituary

Claudene Cornelia Summers Lewis was born June 24, 1944 in Iredell County, daughter of the late Booker T. Summers and Clara Campbell Summers. She was educated in the Iredell County Schools and graduated from Unity High School. She then attended La-Mae Beauty College in Winston-Salem where she received a cosmetology license and was valedictorian of her graduating class. She retired in 2010 after twenty-four years with Bank of America. Fishing, sewing, and playing in her flowers were just a few of her favorite things to do. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church in Harmony, and proudly served as Sunday School Assistant Superintendent and teacher, as well as Vice-President of the Missionary Board and Willing Workers Ministry. Claudene was preceded in death by seven brothers, George, Samuel, Solomon, Alvin, Booker Mitchell, Roosevelt, Lee Preston; one sister, Willene Carson. She passed away on November 19, 2014 after a brief illness. She is survived by her daughter, Endia Lewis of the home; one sister, Irene (Dallas) Steele of Harmony; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
