Obituary

Carla Lapish Mast, 62, passed away surrounded by family on September 18, 2026, at her home in Mocksville.

Carla was born September 8, 1964, in Mocksville, to the late Harold Franklin and Shelby Lanier Lapish.

Carla lived in and served the Mocksville community her entire life. She worked for Davie County Child Nutrition for 28 years. Carla was a selfless, compassionate, and enthusiastic woman who relished helping others. She could do anything she set her mind to, from sewing, welding, and plumbing, to hosting thoughtful gatherings. Above all, she cherished her family and will be remembered as a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and “Grammy.”

Carla had a love for life that was infectious. She was eager to try new foods or travel to new places. Carla was also able to find joy in everyday life, whether it was sharing a meal with family or enjoying time with friends on the patio.

She is survived by her dedicated husband of 34 years, Scott Mast; as well as her two loving children, Clint Mast (Megan Mast) of Clayton; Shelby Mast (Phillip Daniels) of Swannanoa.

She is survived by her five grandchildren, who were the lights of her life, Fisher Mast-Meyer (9), Marigold “Goldie” Mast (3), Oona Mast-Daniels (2), Harrison Mast (1), and an expected grandchild, due in December.

She is survived by three siblings, Regeni Looper, Darren Lapish, and Crystal Hall.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Lapish.

Carla was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Glioblastoma Research Organization.
