Brenda Yvonne Thomas Lyons peacefully departed this life on October 28, 2015 and answered the call to return to her maker. She was born July 24, 1948 in Forsyth Co. She attended WSFC Schools. Brenda was a former member of Center Grove AME Zion Church, Tobaccoville, N.C. She was a resident of Silas Creek Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Lyons was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo A. Speas and Louise T. Speas; two brothers, Timothy A. Speas and Samuel C. Speas. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Robert James Thomas; one brother, Rev. Ronald E. (Soncerey) Speas; two aunts, Carrie T. Shore and Nellie T. Foster; one uncle, Hector Cox; caregiver and cousin, Collette Turner; her son's godparent, Portia Summers; special friends, Jerry Summers, Aldine Summers, and Justin Cameron; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special thank you to the staffs of Silas Creek Rehabilitation Center of the city and Heritage of Cedar Rock Assisted Living, Mocksville, N.C. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 at 1:00pm, at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Ronald E. Speas officiating. The family will receive friends at the church, 12:30 - 1:00pm. Interment will follow in Center Grove AME Zion Church cemetery, Tobaccoville, N.C.
