Booker Mitchell Summers, known as 'Mitch,' was born in Iredell County on September 16, 1942, son of the late Booker T. and Clara Campbell Summers. He graduated from Unity High School in 1961 and was self-employed as a carpenter. For many years he built homes with his father, Booker T. Summers. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Harmony, where he served as a member of the Trustee Board and Usher Board. He enjoyed working and attending church. Mitch also spent over forty-eight years with his devoted partner, Jane Rose. He was preceded in death by six brothers, George, Samuel, Solomon, Alvin, Roosevelt, and Lee Preston Summers; one sister, Willene S. Carson. On Friday, June 20 he died at Davis Medical Center following an extended illness. Survivors include the love of his life, Jane Rose of the home; two sons, Justin (Jesica) Summers and Nicholas Rose both of Olin; two sisters, Irene (Dallas) Steele and Claudene Lewis both Harmony; three grandchildren, Jalayiah, Janyiah, and Rosario Summers; many other relatives and friends.
