Ben Harvey "Bill" Moore, 86, of Woodleaf, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.

He was born November 14, 1936, in Rowan County, to the late William Jasper and Martha Gunter Moore. Mr. Moore was a member of Needmore Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and member of the building and grounds committee. He was retired from Hoechst Celanese.  Mr. Moore was an avid golfer for over 50 years. After retirement he played once a week with the Golfers Association of Rowan Seniors (GARS), and would try to play any other day that he could.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Moore Nettles and Martha Gail Moore Wilson; sister, Bertha Mae Moore Upright; grandson, Carl Douglas Nettles; great-grandson, Charlie Andrew Nettles; and sons-in-law, Robin Mark Wilson, and Charles Douglas Nettles.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 64 years, Ruby Belle Campbell Moore; son, Ralph Moore (Susan); sister, Mary Sue Moore Leonard; grandchildren, Ila and Maggy Moore, Brian Nettles (Katie), John Nettles (Laura), Crystal Turner (Adam), Ben Nettles, Carol Smith (Caleb), Ian F. Nettles (Ryleigh), Laura Nettles, Rusty Wilson (Victoria), and Brice Wilson; granddaughter-in-law, Kara Nettles; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m., Saturday, October 7, at Needmore Baptist Church, Woodleaf, with Rev. David Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family invites friends to visit with them at the church one hour prior to the service.
