Arnold Ray Dalton, Sr., 72, was born in Iredell County, son of the late David and Louise Holmes Dalton. He graduated from Unity High School in 1959. For many years he worked and retired from Holly Farms (now Tyson). He was an active member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Harmony where he served as an usher, and also a member of the Mighty Men's Choir. In 1963 he married Joycelyn Parks and to this union four children were born. He had a love for Harley Davidson motorcycles and drag racing. On Sept. 2 he died at his residence in Harmony. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Arnold Ray Dalton, Jr.,; one sister, Winnie Parks; two brothers, David and Luther Dalton. He is survived by his wife, Joycelyn P. Dalton of the home; one son, Ronald Neil Dalton of Statesville; two daughters, Lori (Donald) Chambers of Cary, and Paula Renee Daniels of Charlotte; three brothers, James (Beatrice) Dalton and Robert (Tina) Dalton of Harmony, and Alvis (Ruby) Dalton of Dayton, OH; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service on Friday, Sept. 6 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Harmony. Rev. Norman Dudley will be the eulogist and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
