Mr. Andre Howell, 54, of Cooleemee, transitioned to eternal life on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.

He was born October 13, 1969, in Rowan County. Andre loved his kids more than anything else. He loved music and always considered himself the best rapper around, and also loved to dance. Andre had learned to play the drums and the bass guitar. He was also a joker who loved to keep you laughing and smiling.

Andre had told me, he was the best chef around, but he had never cooked me anything. The funniest thing was he would call me two and three times a day, sometimes four. He would say, "Hey, you got some money you can spare?" He never would say I'll pay you back; and he knew how many times to call before I would break. I would later tell him to quit calling me so much, I'm not your woman to keep calling. But he knew I would break sooner or later. But I am going to miss those calls every day. I can say, know no more worries, no more pain, you have your wings now. See you when I get there, little brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, John Mac and Lizzie Mayfield; Lonnie and Hazel Howell; and a brother, Gray Mayfield.

Survivors include his mother, Pastor Ruby Mayfield Howell; his father, Ernie Alfred Hairston; wife, Anniemaria Hope Martinez; children, Ezekiel Evan Curry, Nelson Martinez, Cristofur Martinez, Esperanza Martines, and Nikkie Shore; grandchildren, Carmon Smith, Samara Smith, Serenity Corporal, Emony Curry, Ava Curry, and Gabriel Curry; and brothers, Ray Mayfield (Penny Jackson), and Brian Howell (Keisha).

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Lambert Funeral Chapel, Mocksville, with Pastor Rodney Barker officiating.
